ATC C4 Sub Mk2 - Subwoofer

The ATC C4 Sub MK2 is the compact active subwoofer of the Classic Series , with a 31 cm (12″) down-firing woofer with integrated 450 W class G amplification, ideal for completing the sound experience of Hi Fi or Home Cinema systems; available in standard wood, premium wood or White or Black Lacquer finish.

Built entirely in-house at the UK facility to exacting tolerances, it features a hand-crafted 12” woofer using proprietary technology and a 450W Class G amplifier with active filters and overload protection for momentary gain reduction.

The driver is directed downwards, in the so-called down firing configuration, perfectly tuned to the base underneath.

Capable of transparent and linear extension up to 18 Hz, it provides extremely dynamic and detailed bass response with minimal distortion.

This subwoofer can complement multi-channel systems by offering elegantly balanced and natural bass sound, and the generous amplification provides just the right amount of dynamics and punch when needed. The ATC C4 Sub lends your setup a subwoofer with the finest weight and scale of any reproduction available.

The small cabinet is solid and robust, internally braced to dampen any unwanted vibrations and uses the closed-box principle, in air suspension, with an overall weight of a generous 54 kg. Standard finishes are Satin Black , Satin White , Black Ash and Cherry .

Also available are versions with premium woods such as Rosewood, European Crown Cut Walnut, Burr Walnut, Pippy Oak, Burr Magnolia, Burr Poplar, as well as the gloss finishes Clear High Glossed Veneer, Piano Black, Piano White.

Under the hood…

ATC drivers are legendary for their numerous design innovations. The C4 Sub 's 314mm woofer , with a large 75mm voice coil and a powerful short-coil motor, features ATC's SL ( Super Linear ) technology, which dramatically reduces distortion typical of voice coil drivers by 12-15dB (third harmonic) and ensures the high excursion necessary for precise and dynamic low-frequency output.

This is an active subwoofer: it integrates a 450-watt Class G MOSFET amplifier with grounding and overload protection circuits for greater control at full power. Class G is a type of configuration derived from Class AB but with greater efficiency.

The controls are located on the rear panel, including low-pass filters to optimize the response based on the other speakers in the system—Hi-Fi or Home Theater—and the actual response of the listening room. All controls are also accessible via the included remote control.

There are high-level inputs for connection via power cables and low-level stereo RCA “Line In” inputs for connection with traditional signal cables; there is also an RCA line output connector to facilitate connection to multiple subwoofers in series (Daisy-chaining).

It can therefore be connected to the analog outputs of amplifiers equipped with a Sub output or directly via the high level inputs.

Design

This subwoofer is derived from the SCM0.1/12 SL Pro model from the professional range, adding a more refined finish ideal for home environments.
