ATC SCM50 – Classic Series Floorstanding Speakers

ATC SCM50 are the 3-way floorstanding speakers with stand of the Classic Series , available in the active SCM50 ASL and passive SCM50 SL versions , with Lacquered or Satin finish on Standard Wood, Premium Wood, White or Black.

The ATC SCM50 is a high-end speaker designed and manufactured by the British company ATC – Acoustic Transducer Company. This speaker is a benchmark in the British brand's product range: all components are handcrafted and represent the best in speaker and electronic technology available on the market today.

The 25mm soft dome tweeter benefits from a unique doped polyester double suspension design, which adds a secondary suspension to ensure greater linearity and suppress unwanted oscillation patterns, promoting greater control. The monitors' ability to reproduce music and speech with extreme detail, transparency, and phenomenal dynamics lies primarily in the 75mm soft dome midrange .

The 234mm woofer with a large 75mm voice coil and a powerful Short-coil motor, features ATC’s SL – Super Linear – technology which drastically reduces the distortion typical of voice coil drivers by 12-15dB (third harmonic).

In the passive version, the second-order crossover with oversized air inductors identifies two crossover points at 380 Hz and 3.5 kHz.

The Active SCM50A version

In the version with integrated amplification – the SCM50 ASL – the active crossover consists of an electronically balanced, wide-bandwidth input stage with high common-mode rejection and very low distortion. Connection is via XLR only, as befits a speaker originating from the studio world.

The signal is managed by 3 dedicated MOSFET amplifier modules for each individual driver : 50 W for the tweeter, 100 W for the midrange and 200 W for the woofer, for a total of 350 W. In this way, the speaker is able to reproduce the sound in an even more detailed and precise way, without any distortion or loss of quality.

Design

SCM50 is an analytical speaker perfect for the reproduction of acoustic or Rock music, with a perfect orographic reproduction of voices and instruments, and their strong point is in dynamic detail.

Thanks to advanced design technology, ATC SCM50 speakers deliver extremely precise and detailed audio reproduction, with a wide frequency response and impressive power handling capacity.

These speakers were developed from the range of speakers used in recording studios to deliver accurate, natural sound without unwanted coloration or distortion. This makes the SCM50 speakers ideal for faithful reproduction of all musical genres, from classical to rock, jazz to pop and much more.

The cabinet is massive, solid, and inert, and incorporates critically placed bitumen damping to minimize cabinet response. A variety of meticulously handcrafted finishes are available, from genuine Cherry, Walnut, and Black Aah wood finishes, or Satin Black or White; to premium versions such as Rosewood, European Crown Cut Walnut, Burr Walnut, Pippy Oak, Burr Magnolia, and Burr Poplar. Clear High Gloss Veneer, Piano Black, and Piano White gloss finishes are available upon request.

The speakers are supplied with 25cm stands and fabric-covered grilles .
