PERFECT CONDITIONS
Pair of RCA terminated signal cables in box | Copper conductors with PSC+ technology | Silver plated connectors
The MacKenzie is the product of the application of advanced design techniques and superior quality materials.
DESIGN CONCEPTS : The MacKenzie is a 3-fold balanced cable. This means that there are three identical, insulated conductors plus an additional (separate) conductor, underneath the protective foil (insulation) that extends over 100% of the surface.
When used with XLR connectors and balanced electronics, the two positive signals, and the negative, use the same low-distortion path. The shield is connected to the chassis ground of the XLR connector, providing extremely effective isolation without contaminating the quality of the negative conductor.
When used with RCA connectors, two conductors are used together to counteract the high potential of the negative conductor, providing in each case a substantial improvement in performance.
The shield is connected at one end only, providing full protection, without compromising the conductive path of the negative conductor.
CHARACTERISTICS
Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) Conductors: Solid conductors prevent electrical and magnetic interaction strand-to-strand, major sources of distortion. Surface quality is critical because a conductor can be thought of as a rail guide for both the fields within a conductor and the magnetic fields that extend outside the conductor. The astonishingly smooth and pure surface of all AudioQuests Perfect-Surface metals nearly eliminates harshness and dramatically increases clarity over lesser materials. Ultra-high-purity Perfect-Surface Copper+ further minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries, which exist within any metal conductor, nearly eliminating harshness and dramatically increasing clarity over OFHC, OCC, 8N, and other coppers.
Injected Hard Cell Foam Insulation: Nitrogen injected hard cell foam insulation is used exclusively in most AudioQuest audio and video cables. Similar to Foamed-PE, it is injected with nitrogen to create air pockets. The “hard” foam is used because the rigidity of the material allows the cable’s conductors to maintain the same relationship to each other along the entire length of the cable, thus ensuring that the characteristic impedance of the cable is consistent.
Triple Balanced Geometry (Separate Ground Reference Conductor): Our triple balanced geometry uses a separate ground reference conductor, so the cable shield is never used as an inferior conductor. Whether equipped with RCA or XLR connectors, the cable's three conductors ensure that the positive and negative signals have equally superior, low distortion conduction paths.
Carbon-based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy to achieve. Preventing captured Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) by modulating the equipment ground reference requires AQ’s Noise-Dissipation System (NDS). Traditional shielding systems typically absorb and then dump RF noise/energy to the component ground, modulating and distorting the critical “reference” ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. Alternating layers of carbon-loaded metal and synthetic NDS “shield,” absorbing and reflecting most of this RF noise/energy before it reaches the ground-attached layer.
