3-layer carbon-based noise dissipation
Achieving 100% shield coverage is easy. To prevent captured radio frequency interference (RFI) from modulating the equipment's ground reference, AQ's Noise Dissipation System (NDS) is needed. Traditional shielding systems typically absorb and then dissipate noise/RF energy to the component ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. The NDS's alternating layers of metal and carbon-filled synthetic materials "shield the shield," absorbing and reflecting most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the ground layer.

72V Dielectric Biasing System (DBS).
All insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric, the properties of which affect signal integrity. When the dielectric is non-polarized, the dielectric's involvement (nonlinear absorption and release of energy) causes different time delays (phase shifts) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a real problem for highly time-sensitive multi-octave audio. The inclusion of an RF trap (developed for AudioQuest's Niagara series of power products) ensures that radio frequency noise is not induced into the signal conductors by the DBS field elements. Rigid cell foam insulation
Rigid-cell foam insulation (HCF) ensures the critical geometry of the signal pair. Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Rigid-cell foam insulation is similar to the expanded PE used in our more affordable Bridges & Falls cables and is injected with nitrogen to create air pockets. Because nitrogen (like air) does not absorb energy and therefore does not release energy from or within the conductor, distortion is reduced. Additionally, the rigidity of the material allows the cable's conductors to maintain a stable relationship along the entire length of the cable, producing a stable impedance and further reducing distortion.

Controlled direction conductors
All drawn metal wires or conductors have a non-symmetrical grain structure and are therefore directional. AudioQuest controls the resulting change in RF impedance so that noise is dissipated away from where it would otherwise cause distortion. The correct direction is determined by listening to each batch of metal conductors used in every AudioQuest audio cable. Where applicable, arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior audio quality. For most AQ cable models, the arrows not only indicate the direction that optimizes the directionality of the metal for noise dissipation, but also indicate the non-symmetrical connection of shielding and ground to optimize the performance of the entire system. A key aspect of AudioQuest's multifaceted noise dissipation technology, the direction-controlled conductors ensure that induced noise is dissipated and dissipated properly.
