As an impressive 3-way floorstanding speaker, the Reference 2 has the potential to deliver exceptional and uncompromising listening pleasure even in very large rooms. With the advantages of smaller proportions compared to the flagship model of the series, they are perfect for reference-level stereo reproduction and are also an excellent choice for home theater applications.

Visually and technically innovative
The Canton Reference 2's housing is designed to be rimless based on the latest acoustic findings. Its elegant form follows function, creating a speaker with remarkable properties: in addition to the modern design, it is also extremely stable and offers a perfect basis for optimised sound emission. The workmanship of the housing is of the highest quality and allows for aesthetic integration into any living environment. The four speaker frames operate in a 3-chamber system that offers perfectly dimensioned volumes for each branch of the 3-way speaker structure. The double bass equipment with 219 mm woofer, together with the optimised radiation ratio of the latest generation Bass Guide, ensures enormous, deep bass and also allows the Reference 2 to be positioned flexibly in the listening room. The 174 mm midrange driver, deliberately positioned in the upper part of the speaker, ensures authentic and lively vocal reproduction. The ideal complement, both visually and acoustically, is the powerful BC tweeter with 25 mm black aluminum oxide ceramic dome.

Optimized sound
The Reference 2 loudspeakers integrate the entire chassis flush into the round baffle using new three-dimensional ASW (Asymmetric Waveguide Ring) cover rings made of polyoxymethylene (POM). These optimize the radiation characteristics in the high and mid range. The cabinet design is focused on optimizing the sound and uses a robust multilayer laminate as well as sophisticated damping and internal stiffening for low-resonance cabinets. New crossovers with epoxy resin-glass fabric composite material and a 70 µm copper coating enable large and precisely dimensioned conductor cross-sections. The arrangement of the components on the crossover minimizes magnetic field interference. This precise design and the use of high-quality components ensure optimum performance and precise sound.

The Reference 2 loudspeakers feature WBT's low-mass nextgen™ binding posts and high-quality gold-plated copper bridges and enable single, bi-wiring and bi-amping operation. Thanks to their significantly lower mass compared to conventional binding posts, eddy currents are reduced, which is noticeable in a superior sound. The Reference 2 loudspeaker binding post plate has been expanded to include level adjustment (room compensation). This allows the sound pressure levels of the midrange and tweeters to be raised or lowered precisely in 1.5 decibel increments, allowing the loudspeakers to be optimized for a variety of room characteristics and listening positions.

Processing and surfaces
Reference 2 loudspeakers are manufactured with the utmost care and precision in Germany at the company headquarters in Weilrod. The use of first-class materials and components ensures consistent and precise quality. The Reference 2 is available in three exquisitely designed surfaces that underline the high standards of the Reference series. The high-quality walnut veneer is refined with a special sanding and matt lacquering technique and impresses with its fine-pored surface.
