The REFERENCE 9
Our knowledge of over 50 years of loudspeaker construction combined in compact and acoustically pristine loudspeakers: the Reference 9. Equipped with the technologies of a floorstanding loudspeaker, they offer the potential to fill even larger rooms thanks to the large mid-bass driver. The bass guide, used for the first time in a compact loudspeaker, is an integral part of the loudspeaker base and allows for easy installation on sideboards or freely in the room with the ideally matched “Reference LS” loudspeaker stands. Thanks to precise adjustments in the laboratory and in the listening room and the use of high-quality crossover components, the 2-way loudspeakers deliver outstanding sound from compact enclosures.

Modern technology
The Reference 9 compact loudspeakers have a 174 mm BCT membrane per speaker, which offers high rigidity and excellent internal damping with low weight. The BCT membrane enables precise and accurate reproduction of low and mid frequencies. The perfect partner for the mid-bass driver is the 25 mm BC tweeter, which shines with its detailed and transparent reproduction and impressively underlines the excellent sound quality of the Reference 9. The precisely constructed crossover, equipped with carefully selected components, plays an important role in the excellent sound of the loudspeaker. The Reference 9 is equipped with WBT nextgen™ connection terminals, which enable a contact-free and loss-free connection between the loudspeakers and the amplifier. The connection terminal is equipped with our RC technology, which enables sensitive treble adjustment in 1.5 decibel steps. By adjusting the level, the compact loudspeakers can be adapted to your listening preferences or have a corrective effect on the existing room acoustics.

project
We develop and produce our reference loudspeaker systems in our factory in Weilrod im Taunus. To achieve the best possible sound development from compact enclosures, we have redesigned the Reference 9 enclosures from scratch. They feature generous radii on the side walls, bottom and lids and have a round baffle to ensure the greatest possible clearance from the housing edges. This construction concept reduces diffraction effects at the edges and contributes significantly to optimizing the sound radiation of the loudspeaker. A computer-optimized chamber system and sophisticated internal bracing prevent standing waves and cabinet resonances that are harmful to the sound. The high-gloss “Black Piano” surface sealant is applied in twelve layers, elaborately sanded and polished. It gives the Reference 9 enclosure an overwhelming depth effect. Alternatively, the loudspeakers are available in the “silk white matt” version. The acoustically optimized fabric covers adhere magnetically to the baffle of each chassis and confidently round off the elegant appearance of the compact Reference 9.

Ideal combination
Thanks to their superior technical features, the compact Reference 9s easily fill even large rooms with music. To ensure perfect operation, you should place your speakers on the matching "Reference LS" stands from Canton.
