Chord BerTTi is the 75W per channel class AB power amplifier from the super-compact Table Top line – so-called “tabletop” – of the Maidstone brand. Derived from the award-winning TToby , it integrates the famous dual-feed forward correction technology of the ULTIMA series in an extremely compact box.
Despite its compact size, Chord BerTTi offers absolute amplification quality and surprising precision, integrating the legendary proprietary ULTIMA topology, already implemented on the brand's reference amplifiers, the result of John Franks ' know-how.
The combination of the Hugo TT2 with the million-tap digital upscaler M Scaler provides a high-quality HiFi system with astonishing performance in terms of resolution, musicality and detail.
The key to uniqueness
BerTTi uses two specially designed high-frequency power supplies in its design to deliver the necessary power at any level of dynamics, including the most demanding punches. An auxiliary power line is also provided on the front, to provide additional voltage to drive the MOSFETs made to Chord Electronics specifications.
High-frequency power supply technology has been a hallmark of the company since it was founded by John Franck in the late 1980s and continues to characterize its amplifiers today, significantly differentiating them from most of the competition.
This type of power supply is small, lightweight, and highly efficient, making it ideal for such a compact product. The impressive performance the amplifier displays, even when driving low-efficiency speakers, speaks volumes about the power supply's capabilities.
Lots of class in a small space
Given the total power of 75 W per channel (into 8 Ohm) and the very compact shape, many might think it is a Class D design.
But that's not the truth. The amplifier's circuitry reflects Chord Electronics' latest Class AB designs, drawing on the technologies implemented in the company's high-end products. The " sliding bias " design, as Chord calls it, makes the design highly efficient, thus also resulting in low heat generation.
This power amplifier is a true work of art, incorporating everything Chord has learned about amplifier design over the decades to deliver a dynamic, detailed, and remarkably clean, distortion-free performance.
Attention to detail you can touch with your hands
Taking a closer look at the BerTTi, it's hard not to be impressed by its finish. The chassis is precision-machined from solid aircraft-grade aluminum, constructed from two thick pieces rather than the simple metal panels used by most rivals.
It is available in the classic Jett Black color or the brand's iconic Argent Silver finish.
The perforated chassis allows airflow inside the circuits, to promote internal cooling and maintain performance even during long listening sessions.
Inside TToby, space is used intelligently. The circuits are cleverly and elaborately arranged.
It uses all the brand's amplification technologies without exception, offering them at a significantly lower price making it an extremely desirable product.

In terms of connectivity, BerTTi features balanced XLR inputs – perfect for the Hugo TT2 – and unbalanced RCA inputs, as well as gold-plated speaker binding posts.
