Speaker Cable Pair - QED Performance XT25
What makes XT25 unique?
1. Award-winning tradition guaranteed
All QED cables are designed using the top-down principle. XT25 represents the basic musical performance derived from our Supremus cable without the money worries in a more affordable package. QED has won more What Hi-fi? awards than any other single brand and with XT25 this tradition is offered at a sensible price. Unlike most other manufacturers, QED offer an unlimited lifetime guarantee, meaning that if your cable fails to deliver its full potential during its useful life, we will replace it free of charge.
2. X-Tube™ Technology... but with a twist
In speaker cables, high-pitched sounds are forced to travel outward from the conductor and are therefore able to use less and less of the available cross-sectional area as the pitch increases. This is called the "skin effect." It means that for high frequencies the resistance of the cable appears to be much higher than for high-pitched sounds. Eddy currents in one conductor can affect the current flowing in an adjacent conductor, so that currents flowing in the same direction move away from each other. This "proximity effect" also increases the resistance as the frequency increases. These phenomena have a detrimental effect on the fidelity of the sound you hear. The XT25 variant of QED X-Tu Insulating LDPE Sleeving with 100% Aluminum Mylar Tape Cover Plugs and Forks QED Airloc™ Forte banana plugsbe™ technology solves these problems by creating a hollow tubular conductor geometry from individual conductor bundles through which any frequency can pass with the same ease as traditional solid or stranded conductors.
3. Low loss dielectric
Music signals in a speaker cable move back and forth many times per second. The insulating material used to separate the sending and returning conductors from each other (the dielectric) must be charged and discharged each time. Not all of the energy stored in the dielectric during each charge cycle is fully released during each discharge cycle, which has a detrimental effect on the fidelity of the sound you hear. That’s why at QED we use low-loss dielectric materials such as Polyethylene (PE) or Teflon™ (PTFE) rather than the cheaper PVC alternatives found in inferior non-branded cables.
4. 99.999% oxygen-free copper
Speaker cables need to have a large current-carrying capacity. If the electrical resistance of the cable is too high, part of the music signal will be lost, which will have a negative effect on the fidelity of the sound you hear. To prevent this from happening, we make the resistance of our speaker cables as small as possible. We do this by using the largest practical cross-sectional area of copper within the size constraints of each cable. To squeeze every last drop of performance out of the conductors, we ensure that there are no impurities in the copper that would defeat the purpose of making them so large. That's why we use only 99.999% oxygen-free copper.
