QED Performance XT25 Speaker Cable Pair

What makes XT25 unique?

1. Award-winning tradition guaranteed
All QED cables are designed using the top-down principle. XT25 represents the basic musical performance derived from our Supremus cable without the hassle of breaking the bank, in a more affordable package. QED has won more What Hi-fi? awards than any other single brand, and with XT25, this tradition is offered at a reasonable price. Unlike most other manufacturers, QED offers an unlimited lifetime warranty, meaning if your cable fails to deliver its full potential during its useful life, we will replace it free of charge.

2. X-Tube™ Technology... but with a twist
In speaker cables, high-pitched sounds are forced to travel outward from the conductor, using less and less available cross-sectional area as the pitch increases. This is called the "skin effect." It means that at high frequencies, the cable's resistance appears much higher than at high-pitched sounds. Eddy currents in one conductor can influence the current flowing in an adjacent conductor, causing currents flowing in the same direction to move away from each other. This "proximity effect" also increases resistance as the frequency increases. These phenomena have a detrimental effect on the fidelity of the sound you hear. The XT25 variant of QED X-Tu Insulating LDPE Sleeving with 100% Aluminum Mylar Tape Cover Plugs and Forks QED Airloc™ Forte banana plugsbe™ technology solves these problems by creating a hollow tubular conductor geometry from individual conductor bundles through which any frequency can pass with the same ease as traditional solid or stranded conductors.

3. Low loss dielectric
Music signals in a speaker cable move back and forth many times per second. The insulating material used to separate the sending and returning conductors from each other (the dielectric) must be charged and discharged each time. Not all the energy stored in the dielectric during each charge cycle is fully released during each discharge cycle, which negatively impacts the fidelity of the sound you hear. That's why at QED, we use low-loss dielectric materials such as polyethylene (PE) or Teflon™ (PTFE) rather than the cheaper PVC alternatives found in inferior non-brand cables.

4. 99.999% oxygen-free copper
Speaker cables must have a high current-carrying capacity. If the cable's electrical resistance is too high, part of the musical signal will be lost, negatively impacting the fidelity of the sound you hear. To prevent this, we make the resistance of our speaker cables as low as possible. We do this by using the largest practical cross-sectional area of copper within the size constraints of each cable. To squeeze every last drop of performance from the conductors, we ensure that there are no impurities in the copper that would defeat the purpose of making them so large. That's why we use only 99.999% oxygen-free copper.
