The ÆON 2 Dan Clark open and closed feature the latest engineering innovations from the American company's team, with an intelligent design and an affordable price point for the quality offered.
The original ÆON Flow broke new ground with the elegant, ergonomic design that is a hallmark of Dan Clark Audio design. From the sleek shape of the earcups, to the lightweight nitinol headband, to the astonishing performance of its in-house designed drivers, it was hard to believe that ÆON could be improved upon, but Dan Clark did it!
Significantly improved performance
The new ÆON 2 Dan Clark open and closed are not just an update to a great headphone, they are truly a different product. Dan and his team have taken the learnings from developing ETHER 2 and redesigned the new driver onboard ÆON 2 from the ground up, using state-of-the-art ETHER 2 motor technology. New features include:
- Updated driver structure, flipped 180 degrees to avoid unwanted air flows generated from behind by the diaphragm and conveyed towards the ear by the shape of the magnets
- High precision machined structures
- Excellent driver damping for improved resolution, dynamics and a more linear frequency response
- Optimized sound characteristics, a warmer and fuller tone for the closed model, a drier mid-bass for the open version and a wide soundstage in both models
The sum of all these improvements is an audiophile headphone that delivers music with all its emotional impact: visceral bass, transparent mids and excellent high-end detail, all with a deep and immersive soundstage that puts the music “out of your head” to create a deeply satisfying experience.

Many of us at Dan Clark Audio travel the world, and as a result, we realized that while the ÆON came with a great case, it was a bit bulky and difficult to transport. When we set out to create the ÆON 2 Dan Clark open and closed, we wanted to improve on this aspect without sacrificing performance, reliability, or comfort. So our engineering team set out to create a no-compromise foldable headphone and an efficient carrying case, and they succeeded.
Dan Clark Audio's Smart Industrial Design philosophy has been fully applied and the result is a completely original folding mechanism that improves fit and comfort while being extremely robust.
This elegant mechanism deserves a custom case, and we can be happy with what Dan Clark Audio has achieved. The ÆON 2 protective case, which also houses the connection cable, takes up little space in a backpack or bag and is extremely robust.
