Series D
A new series of products that uses the new AFDS (Air Film Damping System) technology which can be considered a reinterpretation of the classic planar magnetic.
The AFDS offers great lightness of the moving equipment with consequent superior characteristics at high frequencies, with the typical bass extension of open dynamic headphones. Compared to the traditional planar-magnetic model, for which it was necessary to resort to closed pavilions to obtain good performance at low frequencies, this D series offers the performance of an open headphone, with the advantages of the planar-magnetic technique. A true re-invention, in short.

D8000
At Final they have reinvented the planar magnetic speaker, perfecting the AFDS (Air Film Damping System) technique.
With the development of the new AFDS (Air Film Damping System), Final has achieved unparalleled sound quality, combining the excellent high range of planar-magnetic models with the extended low range of dynamic headphones. With the D8000, you will rediscover the music you are used to listening to, for endless pleasure.
Characteristics
A headphone that combines the excellent high range of planar-magnetic models with the bass extension of dynamic headphones.
“Top-level reproduction with a very present low range”
With conventional planar-magnetic designs, the large movement of the diaphragm required to reproduce the low range causes physical contact with the magnets. To avoid this, it is necessary to raise the minimum frequency reproduced, compensating for the lack of bass extension by using sealed earcups (closed-back headphones). This recreates a completely closed space, similar to in-ear designs, which are capable of reproducing bass frequencies despite their small size. With the D8000, the problem of the diaphragm coming into contact with the magnets has been solved through AFDS (Air Film Damping System), making it possible to reproduce low frequencies using an open earcup, as in the best dynamic headphones.
In the reproduction of high frequencies, the lightness of the diaphragm is the most important thing, and compared to other dynamic models with the same diameter, the diaphragm of the D8000 is 1/3 lighter. One of the features that made this record possible is the super-thin aluminum voice coil engraved directly on the film diaphragm, and therefore does not need adhesive that represented an additional burden. With the D8000 the reproduction of the highest frequencies is not a problem. "The combination of the best reproduction of the typical planar-magnetic high spectrum combined with the typical presence of bass of the dynamic model".
With these features you discover new details of your favorite music, making you want to listen to it again and again. With these headphones, you realize that high quality reproduction is a stimulus to discover the most hidden aspects of music.
With conventional planar magnetic designs, the diaphragm excursion is limited, and the diaphragm easily contacts the magnets. To address this issue, Final performed extensive measurements using finite element method and laser Doppler simulations of the diaphragm, and developed a new diaphragm damping technology known as AFDS – Air Film Damping System.
By doing so, the defect of planar magnetic models which was the poor extension in the low range was solved, this technology could be considered a reinvention of planar magnetic models.
With the D8000, the problem of the diaphragm coming into contact with the magnets has been solved through the AFDS (Air Film Damping System), and it has been possible to extend the minimum frequency that the driver unit can reproduce. In combination with the open ear cups, the D8000 reproduces low frequencies like the best dynamic models.
Designed with long-term use and ease of repair in mind

Aluminum and magnesium alloy pavilions
For this reason, the aluminum-magnesium alloy housing has been machined with great precision.
The upholstery is made of high quality leather, and every little detail has been taken care of in order to absorb even the slightest vibrations.

The D8000 model is produced at our Kawasaki headquarters. Along with the precision of the individual parts, the assembly process has been obsessively cared for, where nothing is left to chance. In order to be able to control even the smallest irregularities, the assembly jigs are designed and built in Final.
To achieve equal performance for all specimens with the minimum tolerance in Final have developed a machine for forming and one for measuring the diaphragm tension, specific for D8000.
To create excellent products, you need to get to the heart of the production process. The good thing about “made in Japan” is that in Japan, companies collaborate, from the procurement of raw materials to assembly, resulting in high-quality products.

Newly designed detachable cable
We have developed a dual cable for the D8000, one comprising a 3.5mm mini jack (1.5m) and the other a standard 6.3mm (3m).
Cable length: 1.5m
Input: 3.5mm, 3-pole
Output: 3.5mm, 2-pole with locking function
Compatible models: D8000/D8000 Pro Edition, SONOROUS VIII/VI/IV/III/II
Cable length: 3m
Input: 6.3mm, 3-pole
Output: 3.5mm, 2-pole with locking function
Compatible models: D8000/D8000 Pro Edition, SONOROUS VIII/VI/IV/III/II

Newly designed open-type ear cups
With any type of headphones, sealing the earcups provides an extension of the lowest frequency that the driver unit would not otherwise be able to reproduce. Of course, the headphones must be able to reproduce low frequencies, and must also have breathable earcups. Many planar magnetic and dynamic models lack low frequencies precisely because the earcups are not hermetic.
With the D8000, thanks to the low-frequency extension via AFDS, it has become possible to reproduce the extreme lows even with non-hermetically sealed ear cups. The ear cups supplied with the D8000 have been specially developed using highly breathable foam and special fibres.
