Maple, meets hemp

A family favorite, the RS2x has been completely redesigned to bring out the full potential of its maple and hemp tonewood. The neck and housing ring are made of maple, while a hemp core holds it all together. We build with wood for its warm, enveloping tonal capabilities, and the RS2x is a stunning evolution of the RS2 line.

Discovering new parts in songs you’ve heard hundreds of times is what we’re here for. The driver and enclosure working in tandem react to sound vibrations and virtually eliminate transient distortion. With harmonic colors and a world-renowned midrange, the RS2x draws you in immediately. The sound produced by the woodwinds, when combined with our special processes, is full-bodied with a rich vocality.

X Series Drivers

The fourth-generation X drivers are here. Specially tuned for the RS2x wood enclosure, this new speaker design features a more powerful magnetic circuit, a voice coil with reduced effective mass, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Redesigning these components for our 44mm drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.

New cables and headbands

Along with the speakers, the cables and headband have been redesigned for RS2x. Housed in a more durable exterior, the now super-annealed 8-core copper cable reveals even more of your music with improved clarity. The new black leather headband features a white stitched accent.

Hand built in Brooklyn

Our first wooden headphones were built in the dead of night in 1994 by John Grado. Wood has been a staple on our workbench ever since. Each RS2x headphone is handcrafted by our team in Brooklyn, and these headphones go from workbench to workbench until they’re ready for your ears. We started building on a kitchen table in 1953, and every experience since has led to the RS2x.
