Electrostatic headphones have long been considered the pinnacle of headphone technology. In the meantime, they've been surpassed in many areas by magnetostats, which are almost as lightweight but deliver powerful bass. The Mini Shangri-La system is based on HIFIMAN's expensive flagship Shangri-La model and brings its ultra-thin diaphragm technology to an affordable price point. It uses the comfortable headband structure of the magnetostatic models to enjoy incredibly fine-resolution sound during extended listening sessions.

The earphones weigh a pleasantly low 320 grams, and the earcups are generously sized. The matching amplifier has a linear power supply and is completely discrete. During operation, it only gets warm and can drive two electrostatic motors simultaneously. The outputs are wired according to the Stax Pro standard and are equally compatible. The amplifier has both RCA and XLR inputs, and selection is made on the front panel.
