Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 600.2 - Integrated Amplifier

Following the huge success of the acclaimed and award-winning Nu-Vista 800.2, the time has come to announce the new Nu-Vista 600.2. The Nu-Vista 600.2 is a much larger upgrade and redesign than the previous Nu-Vista 800.2. Simon Quarry, our head of design, has once again done a fantastic job fine-tuning the amplifier, achieving a sweet sound but also great power and transparency.
Compared to the older Nu-Vista 600, the updated 600.2 now features the full TITAN power amplifier design, including the locally decoupled output stage. The PCB layout has been radically reworked and improved. The electrical components have been updated, the 600.2 now uses the same laser-trimmer volume control as the 800.2, and the PSU section has been significantly improved.
The Nu-Vista 600.2 is our latest love letter to discrete, strictly analog dual-mono amplifiers, utilizing large, oversized toroidal transformers with multi-array power supplies and the finest filtering in the pre- and power stages. And on top is the exquisite Class A tube stage, featuring the world-famous, and now nearly extinct, Nuvistor tubes. The massive transport, stunning cabinet, and VU meter display not only ensure the best sound/performance, but also the tactile feel of true LUXURY.
We believe that only a true analog amplifier WITHOUT DIGITAL streaming or integrated WiFi can achieve the ultimate fidelity that music lovers expect from a Musical Fidelity product. We feel responsible for our name.

Nu-Vista 600.2 is a much more significant upgrade than our previous re-release Nu-Vista 800-800.2.
The smaller changes involve component improvements. The old input switching IC has been replaced with relays for better separation and dynamics, and only the highest-quality polypropylene capacitors are used throughout the signal path. A much-requested and more significant change is that the 600.2 now also uses our laser-tuned volume control for a gain error of +/- 0.5 dB even at lower levels.
The layout of the power, preamplifier, and nuvistor stages has been significantly revised and improved. The preamplifier circuitry has been removed from the rear panel PCB and is now mounted on a self-shielding tray at the top of the unit to reduce noise and distortion, protected from noisy PAs and high-current power supplies.
The Nu-Vista stage, now identical to our PRE/PAS/PAM, features 6S51N nuvistors in a discrete Class A amplifier buffer and is also located on the new top-layer PCB. The preamplifier, nuvistor, and input circuitry are now fully dual mono with separate power supplies for the left and right channels.
Continuing our pursuit of clean and efficient power solutions, as recently demonstrated with our new range of balanced power conditioners and Nu-Vista PRE/PAS/PAM separate power supplies, the Nu-Vista 600.2 now has no switch-mode power supply during operation. A single-mode power supply (SMPSU) is used only in standby mode, ensuring the amplifier's best power supply noise performance. The improved digital power supply contributes to improved power rail noise.
The new layout delivers significant performance improvements and saves significant space. We can now support two balanced XLR inputs to accommodate both Nu-Vista Vinyl and DACs. A balanced XLR preamp output has also been added, and all line outputs are now separately buffered, eliminating interference between devices connected to either preamp output.

The TITAN Legacy

Certainly, one of the most significant changes is that we have fully incorporated our renowned TITAN design into the Nu-Vista 600.2, bringing it up to par with its bigger brother the 800.2 and the esteemed PRE/PAS/PAM range.
Equipping each output device (transistor) with a corresponding high-current power capacitor allows for more immediate access to the stored energy, with a much lower impedance flow path. This results in improved transient response and simultaneously provides improved ripple filtering at higher currents, in combination with power capacitors located elsewhere. The main power capacitors are placed directly on the rectifiers, thus reducing the power supply impedance and helping to keep rectification noise and hum away from the high-gain PA circuit.
The 600.2's PCB layout has been optimized to reduce power consumption—about half that of the 800.2—and now features a sleeker, more refined, and discreet "V4" look, with 4 output transistors per channel. The 800.2 features a much bulkier design, with 10 output transistors per channel, giving it a "V10" look.

Heroic build quality

The mechanical construction of the Nu-Vista 600.2 is uncompromisingly rigid and solid, in typical Musical Fidelity style. The front and side panels are machined from extruded aluminum profiles and are extremely solid. The Nu-Vista 600.2 is essentially immune to the effects of ambient vibrations. The same can be said for electromagnetic immunity. The sturdy aluminum case acts as a Faraday cage, protecting the internal components from external electromagnetic fields and, similarly, the rest of your HiFi equipment from the electromagnetic fields generated by the Nu-Vista 600.2.
