The Opera Prima v2 are two-way bookshelf speakers with a bass-reflex design, soft dome tweeters, and 180mm woofers. Thanks to the collaboration with Scan Speak, they offer detailed and natural sound, with impeccable acoustic performance.
The evolution of bookshelf speakers has always followed a fundamental principle: finding the right balance between compact size and excellent sonic performance. Opera Prima v2 was born from this very need, the fruit of extensive research into the cabinet's internal resonances and their implications for music reproduction.
Each speaker is, in its own way, a small, enclosed space, just like a listening room. For this reason, the development team rethought the cabinet's proportions, reducing unwanted resonances and improving frequency distribution. The use of a high-density polyurethane internal absorber reduced internal reflections, making the sound more defined, articulated, and detailed even at low volumes.
The 180mm woofer , with a black anodized aluminum cone and ferrite magnet, offers an extraordinary combination of speed, dynamics, and control. This driver has been optimized with generous excursion and a magnetic pole piece design to ensure a linear response even at high volumes.
The 26mm soft-dome tweeter with double ferrite magnets delivers a smooth, natural high-frequency reproduction that's never fatiguing. To improve performance, the materials inside the rear chamber have been modified, further reducing resonances and improving standing wave damping.
The horizontal dispersion has been precisely calibrated to deliver a wide, immersive soundstage, ensuring impeccable tonal balance in any listening environment.
A crossover that enhances transparency and timbral coherence
The Opera Prima v2 crossover filter is the result of meticulous design work, aimed at ensuring a smooth transition between the woofer and tweeter without any timbral discontinuity. The filter order has been calibrated taking into account the overall acoustic response, with particular attention to the acoustic phase near the crossover frequency, set at 2500 Hz .
Only the highest quality components were selected for its construction: Vishay resistors and Mundorf capacitors , which ensure exceptional transparency and uncompromising sonic fidelity. The inductors, designed to precise specifications, help keep the signal clean and free from distortion.
The circuit board layout has been carefully designed to avoid any distortion in response, ensuring that each speaker reproduces sound exactly as it was designed. Finally, the internal wiring uses high-purity copper to preserve every detail of the recording.
From the point of view of instrumental measurements, Opera Prima v2 stands out for its sensitivity of 90 dB , which makes it easily driveable by a wide range of amplifiers. The nominal impedance of 6 ohms , with a minimum of 3.8 ohms , allows compatibility even with good quality tube amplifiers.
The frequency response extends from 50 Hz to 21 kHz (-3 dB) , ensuring balanced reproduction across the entire audible spectrum. The low range is well controlled and free of artificial emphasis, while the mid-high range maintains exemplary linearity both on and off-axis.
