Building on the revolutionary technology of the MC A90, the MC 90X features a stainless steel chassis made using Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology. It also incorporates the field stabilizing element, broadband damping, the Ortofon Replicant 100 Diamond stylus and Ortofon's new proprietary rubber dampers.

Replicant 100 - Simply the best cut for stylus diamonds

To achieve linear playback with a wide frequency range and optimal tracking ability, a diamond stylus that closely resembles the original is required. The Ortofon MC 90X features a Replicant 100-cut diamond, known for its thin, lightweight profile and exceptionally large contact area, allowing it to track grooves with unparalleled precision.

The diamond shape, combined with a special polishing process and a boron cantilever, ensures exceptional transparency, speed and responsiveness, delivering exceptional sound quality for an immersive listening experience.

Neodymium magnet with FSE

Magnetic system
The magnetic system draws inspiration from the design of previous, famous cartridges such as the Kontrapunkt series, the MC Jubilee, and the MC Windfeld. It is based on an extremely powerful and compact neodymium magnet, which, thanks to its minimal size, makes the generator system compact and lightweight.

Ortofon's Magnetic Field Stabilization Element, a small cylinder of conductive material strategically placed within the magnet system, ensures the magnetic field remains stable regardless of the armature's movement. The FSE improves channel separation while minimizing dynamic distortion and intermodulation. The result: fantastic dynamics and even more space between the musicians. You'll simply experience more drama and a greater width, height, and depth of the soundstage!

Optimized damping system
A distinctive feature of the Ortofon MC 90X is its Wide Range Damping (WRD) technology. Ortofon uses a platinum disc sandwiched between two rubber dampers with different properties to ensure exceptional tracking ability and effective damping of resonances across the entire frequency range. WRD technology minimizes distortion and resonance, thus improving sound clarity.

Ortofon develops and produces its own proprietary rubber compounds in-house to ensure the exceptional performance of its cartridges. The improved rubber compounds in the MC 90X play a crucial role in enhancing the cartridge's sound quality and delivering an unparalleled listening experience.
