This year, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth, Ortofon has produced an exclusive cartridge, the 2M Black LVB 250.
This head thus becomes the flagship of the 2M series, positioning itself in the catalogue just above the current and excellent 2M Black.
And it is precisely from the 2M Black base that Ortofon started to create this cartridge, improving it, making changes that take advantage of new materials and new manufacturing technologies.
BENEFITS OF HI-END MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGY The 2M Black LVB 250 uses a Nude Shibata diamond on a boron cantilever, a combination already used on the Cadenza Black MC head.
The thin, polished profile of the Nude Shibata stylus creates an extremely large contact area with the record groove wall, ensuring faithful and detailed reproduction across the audio spectrum, even at the highest frequencies.
The use of an extremely rigid, yet lightweight, boron cantilever adds remarkable transparency, speed and sonic dynamics.
Furthermore, to achieve optimal interaction between compliance and damping, a new rubber suspension has been developed, which is based on a composite formula called Multi Wall Carbon Nano Tubes (MWCNT) which is very efficient especially in filling the nano-cavities that are created in the various manufacturing processes.
The new composite has extraordinary mechanical properties, which ensure better damping and improve the overall performance of the head.
Furthermore, the new MWCNT rubber compound guarantees environmental sustainability, which is essential for the future.
The MWCNT powder is applied in a polymer matrix already in rubber and not in a powder compound; this step makes the production process cleaner, non-polluting and energy saving.
PERFORMANCE AND COMPATIBILITY With an optimal weight of 7.2g and a compliance of 22μm/mN, this cartridge is able to adapt without problems to the majority of modern tonearms.
The 2M Black LVB 250 has been designed to be easily compatible with an endless array of modern and non-modern hi-fi turntables, both mid-range and high-end, and as the ultimate solution for high-fidelity sound reproduction.
