Developed over a decade by a team of Rega designers led by our founder Roy Gandy, AYA speakers promise to deliver a detailed and balanced performance, no matter what genre of music you choose to play. Using hand-crafted Rega designed drivers, combined with our ZRR high frequency tweeter and a new crossover, our engineers have fine-tuned every aspect to deliver the best possible performance. The sculpted cabinets and stand create an attractive floating effect that adds to the unique appearance.

Breaking the mold
After a decade of testing and development, the Rega AYA loudspeaker is born. Housed in a unique UK manufactured cabinet, moulded from GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete), the glass fibres that make up the structure reduce weight whilst increasing the structural integrity of this 2.5 way bandpass design. This technique creates the perfect enclosure for the loudspeaker, improving performance whilst offering exceptional value for money. Thanks to the combination of the new enclosure and drive unit configuration, the AYA loudspeaker delivers accurate and precise bass response and Rega’s signature detailed midrange and treble.

If Rega were to continue to deliver on our customer promise of delivering exceptional performance and value for money, the ever-increasing cost of real wood veneered MDF cabinetry meant we had no choice but to explore other options. After a decade of testing and development, the AYA loudspeaker is housed in a unique, UK-made cabinet, moulded from glass-reinforced concrete. The glass fibres that make up the structure reduce weight whilst increasing the structural integrity of this 2.5-way bandpass enclosure.

This technique creates the perfect speaker enclosure that enhances performance while offering exceptional value for money. The AYA speaker cabinet molding process was developed in conjunction with a UK-based company best known for bespoke concrete furniture and installations.

Rega fans out there will know that we have always questioned the marketing and science surrounding turntables. Experimentation and research have allowed us to debunk common misconceptions and use real engineering to produce the world’s best sound quality at reasonable prices.

However, the loudspeaker market is very different because there is a strong science and engineering discipline that has in turn created hundreds of competitors in the loudspeaker market. The success of many loudspeakers depends on strong marketing, attractive advertising budgets (of which Rega spends none) and financial incentives to dealers. What most loudspeaker companies would spend on marketing, Rega has invested in research and development to achieve a completely unique cabinet construction.

*Speaker grilles are available as an option and will be supplied separately. To keep costs as low as possible and avoid unnecessary waste, we have chosen not to include grilles as standard as the majority of customers choose not to use them. These grilles simply attach via magnets to the front plate screws to prevent damage to the cone or tweeter. They are covered in quality speaker fabric, minimising the impact a fitted grille would have. Images of the grille can be found in the gallery section.

Not unlike real wood, GRC has its own characteristics. Each piece of furniture will be unique and different due to the manufacturing process. Shade variations and small holes in the concrete may occur and are an expected part of the design. Concrete inherently has marks, swirls, patterns and imperfections as a result of the casting and finishing process, characteristics that make it unique and attractive.
