Rega ND5 - Moving Magnet Cartridge for Turntables

The all-new Nd5 moving magnet cartridge has been in development for over 10 years and promises to deliver next-level performance in moving magnet technology. The patent-pending Nd range is the world's first to use an ultra-high-power neodymium magnet, allowing us to create this truly unique design.

Advanced Moving Magnet
Each Nd5 is meticulously handcrafted by our highly skilled technicians. The stylus profile is a perfect elliptical naked diamond. This is a true ellipse created by an elliptical grinding process from polycrystalline synthetic diamond. The design uses a brand new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to achieve accurate channel balancing. The Nd5 also features an optimised pole piece gap for superior linearity and crosstalk characteristics. This delivers a much wider soundstage than previous models. This new cartridge is constructed with miniature parallel coils, wound internally using 38-micron wire with just 1275 turns. This produces a low-inductance, low-impedance generator, offering significantly improved high-frequency response. In line with our commitment to sustainability, the Nd range is supplied in 100% recyclable packaging.

Nd magnet technology
Often used in moving coil designs (including our own), we believe the Nd5 is the first moving magnet cartridge to utilize an N55 neodymium (Nd) magnet. This is the world's strongest commercially available magnet and is a key component in making this unique design possible, offering greater power than traditional bar magnets.

Glass-filled PPS body
The entire assembly is housed in our zero-tolerance, injection-molded, glass-filled polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) body, a lightweight and highly rigid material. A low-mass body reduces stress on the tonearm bearings and promotes freedom of movement, essential for accurate vinyl reproduction. This new body design was inspired by our highly successful MC range.

Cantilever and stylus profile
The Nd5's aluminum cantilever features a precision elliptical naked diamond stylus. This profile delivers exceptional tracking accuracy and extracts greater levels of detail from the vinyl surface.

Factory fitted options
The Nd5 cartridge will be offered as a factory-fitted option on the award-winning Planar 3 and Planar 6 turntables. Designed specifically for these turntables, the Nd5 promises to bring out the best in your vinyl collection. Rega reconstruction scheme
Rega's unique pivot bearing design improves performance by eliminating the mechanical joint between the stylus housing and the main body. This significantly improves tracking ability and stylus stability. If you damage or wear out your Rega cartridge, simply return it to your Rega dealer for a rebuilt cartridge with a new cantilever, stylus, and pivot bearing. Each rebuilt cartridge is thoroughly tested as if it were a new one. The rebuilt cartridge is sold at a discounted price once you trade in the worn or damaged cartridge, which is equivalent to a replacement stylus offered by other manufacturers.
