FLASHING KIT
This accessory is designed to evaluate the speed of any turntable. The portable strobe unit generates a 100Hz pulsed light source for use with the supplied 180-line strobe disc.
Designed as the perfect partner for the Rega Neo variable speed power supply.
Simply place the supplied strobe disc directly onto the turntable mat.
With the player running at 33⅓, 45, or 78 rpm, hold the strobe LED directly over the lines to judge the turntable speed.
How to use the Rega Strobe
With the turntable spinning and the speed set to 33⅓ RPM, place the strobe disc on the record spindle directly on the turntable mat.
Hold the strobe about 2-3 centimeters from the lines on the disc.
If the lines freeze and remain stable, it means the turntable is running at the correct speed.
If the lines on the record move slowly clockwise, it means that the turntable is running fast.
If the lines on the record move slowly counterclockwise, it means that the turntable is running slowly.
TIP: To ensure an accurate reading, it is recommended to hold a reference point such as the tip of a pencil near the lines while rotating to easily identify whether the lines are stable or rotating.
If your turntable or power supply is adjustable, you can adjust the turntable speed until the lines are stable.
Advice for non-adjustable Rega turntables
If your turntable is not adjustable, try a new drive belt first. Drive belts can stretch over time, causing slight variations in speed.
Significant speed variations are more likely to be mechanical problems.
Check the bearing oil in the center hub.
If your Rega turntable uses a steel ball bearing, ensure this is inside the brass bearing housing (not used on RP8 or RP10).
