The Cremonese, created with the intention of completing the Homage collection upwards,
It is still today, almost 5 years after its debut, one of Sonus faber's most loved speakers.
By its natural vocation, however, this speaker immediately found its place in the highest range of the Sonus faber catalogue, that of the Reference collection, the line to which the brand's excellences belong. This particular predilection has also made it the ideal platform for that precious, vital design activity that goes by the name of "experimentation".
Here is the story of the genesis of a unique speaker, embellished by the return to the historic Sonus faber red violin finish: Il Cremonese ex3me.
Fusion
By working especially on the behavior at the extremes of the band, it was possible to extract a performance that was not at all interpretative of the musical message, to the point that the Cremonese ex3me could even lend itself to finding professional uses as a luxury “monitor”.
This model is born from the fusion of elements belonging to the original project, such as the midranges and woofers, with the most iconic of the solutions derived from Ex3ma, the experimental model celebrating the company's 30th anniversary.
Beryllium DLC
The Cremonese ex3me inherits the tweeter with Beryllium DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) diaphragm from the Ex3ma. Sonus faber temporarily puts aside its iconic Damped Apex Dome™ tweeter with treated silk diaphragm, to take advantage of the sonic contribution of this transducer.
Exceptional in terms of transparency, speed and micro-dynamics, the Beryllium diaphragm has formidable physical characteristics in terms of structural rigidity and lightness, but is characterised by a typical “metallic” attitude.
To smooth out this tendency, the “Chemical Vapor Deposition” process is used: a layer of diamond carbon is deposited on the surface of the diaphragm which not only darkens the surface, but also gives Beryllium some of the typical properties of diamond, including hardness and amorphous nature.
The diaphragm thus obtained is therefore more rigid with the same mass: this results in a shift of the resonance frequency upwards which will also be dampened in intensity.
The result is a very fast, highly detailed, airy and colorless sound.
The Cremonese ex3me is a unique speaker, characterised by unprecedented technical features and a precise objective in terms of sound results: absolute tonal neutrality.
