Right in the middle – with great sound!
The medium-sized SPL Performer s900 stereo power amplifier is based on the large-sized SPL Performer s1200 stereo power amplifier in terms of component selection and conceptual structure.

Here, sonic grandeur meets performance data that are perfectly suited to high-resolution but not overly power-hungry speakers of any size. With an amplifier output of 2 x 370 W (4 Ω) [2 x 420 W (2 Ω); 2 x 200 W (8 Ω)], it really does have enough power reserves to power any speaker.

Design – a matter of good taste
Visually, the SPL Performer s900 stereo power amplifier fits perfectly into the SPL HiFi "Professional Fidelity" line and is of course available in the three basic colours black, red or silver.

Conventional solid-state power amplifiers quickly work at the limits of the components used: unsightly distortions occur. Tube power amplifiers also distort in this limit range, but this manifests itself in a rather softer sound.

Thanks to VOLTAiR technology, the Performer s900 can process significantly higher levels without distortion. All components work continuously in the optimal working range. The result is a very pleasant, natural and relaxed sound experience. Enjoy your music in every detail and without listening fatigue.

Full speed ahead
In the Performer s900, separate voltage and power amplifier stages ensure a stable operating point of the amplifier circuit, which uses Class AB technology. Thanks to their negative feedback path, feedback from the loudspeaker to the input stage is also eliminated. This allows the SPL VOLTAiR technology to demonstrate its full performance.

Free choice
The Performer s900 has a stereo pair of XLR and RCA inputs.
This means that it is compatible with all commercially available preamplifiers without the use of adapters.
The corresponding stereo input can be selected using the Input Select switch on the rear.

Get in shape
In relation to the Performer s900, “fit” – as in English – means adapted. And you can adjust the input sensitivity in 0.5 dB increments. From 0 dB to -5.5 dB. Unlike a panorama potentiometer in a preamplifier, this is the audiophile solution for acoustically problematic rooms or speaker configurations. The optimum working range of the speakers and the preamplifier can also be ideally adjusted.

Strong connection
The speaker terminals can accommodate both banana plugs and stranded wire with a diameter of up to 4 mm. It is not permitted to connect any speaker with an impedance lower than 2 ohms.

AMP CTL
The standby mode of the power amplifier can be activated and deactivated using the AMP CTL connection between a preamplifier, such as the Director Mk2, Elector, Phonitor x or the crossover. To do this, connect the 3.5 mm jack sockets with a cable with 3.5 mm mono or stereo jack plugs. Preamplifiers from other manufacturers can also activate and deactivate the standby mode of the Performer s900 using the 12 V trigger input.

Better safe than sorry
The Performer s900 has a protection circuit against direct voltage and one against overheating.
If DC voltage is detected, the Performer s900 output stage automatically switches off and the Protect LED on the front lights up red. To protect the Performer s900 from the unlikely event of overheating, a temperature sensor on the heat sinks continuously monitors the temperature of the device. The TEMP LED lights up yellow when the Performer s900 gets too hot and switches it off until the power amplifier has cooled down again.

It sounds good
For all Professional Fidelity Series devices, we develop not only according to plan, but also by ear from the very beginning. Many of the basic components are installed on the circuit boards using through-hole mounting (THT). This way, we can ensure that we can install the components that sound best.

VOLTAiR Technology
120V Technology is our benchmark technology. It is unique in the audio industry worldwide because it operates with a DC voltage of 120 volts. This corresponds to four times the operating voltage of IC-based semiconductor op-amps. In our Professional Fidelity Series we refer to this unrivaled technology as VOLTAiR Technology.

The highest possible audio quality requires the highest possible audio operating voltage.
120V technology operates at +/- 60V. To handle such a high voltage, we have developed special proprietary op-amps that can operate at a DC voltage of +/- 60V: the SPL 120V SUPRA op-amps. This high voltage would destroy conventional components and op-amps.

120V technology achieves exceptional technical specifications and sonic advantages. Technically, in terms of dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio and overload resistance. Sonically, in terms of richness of detail and an absolutely relaxed listening experience.

By the way, the “120V” in the name of the technology has nothing to do with the local mains voltage of the socket. It is the operating voltage in the device with which the audio signals are processed.

The mains voltage of the socket is transformed into the required secondary voltage in the internal linear power supply of the device with a toroidal transformer. Rectifiers convert this AC voltage into the required DC voltages in the audio device.
