Phonitor X - The headphone amplifier with preamplifier
Enjoy music on headphones and over speakers equally well with superior VOLTAiR technology – that's why we developed Phonitor X.

For all headphones
The Phonitor X offers connections for standard headphones with a jack socket and for balanced headphones a 4-pin XLR connector.

Thanks to the enormous output power of 18 watts, all headphones are driven effortlessly.

Headphones or speaker
The OUTPUT switch turns the headphone amplifier into a preamplifier: simply switch from headphones to speakers and the signal from the selected source goes to both the analog audio outputs, RCA and XLR.

In the center (mute) position, no signal reaches the outputs. The VU meters light up red.

To power amplifiers
or for active speakers you can use the balanced XLR jacks for long and the RCA jacks for short cables.

Convenient are the AMP CTL sockets to which power amplifiers with 12V trigger inputs can be connected to switch them on and off together with the Phonitor X.

Milled from solid
is the large 45mm volume control. Its mass together with the Alps RK27 “Big Blue” motorized potentiometer further enhances the “spoon in honey” feel.

The red LED marker makes the setting visible even in dark environments.

RC Volume
The volume can be controlled remotely with any infrared remote control, which the Phonitor X simply learns.

To do this, press the IR programming button and then the louder and quieter buttons.

Source of joy
You can connect up to six (6!) stereo sources to Phonitor X:
XLR, RCA, USB, Coaxial, Optical and AES/EBU

Phonitor X accepts a wide variety of audio connections. Balanced via XLR or unbalanced via RCA connectors.

VERSION WITH OPTIONAL DAC
With the optional DAC768xs, you can add three additional digital sources.

The DAC768xs
The acclaimed AKM AK4490 Velvet Sound™ premium DAC chip is used as the conversion chip in the optional digital-to-analog converter, which thanks to its new architecture reproduces the finest sound details.

Converts PCM audio with 32-bit resolution and up to 768kHz sampling rate, which is equivalent to 16 times CD resolution. Direct Stream Digital is also supported up to DSD4 or DSD256 resolution.

Good old days
Two mechanical VU meters display the input levels for the left and right audio channels.

Finding the center
It's not always easy. By nature, our hearing can be tilted more to the left or more to the right. This is especially obvious when listening with headphones.

That's why Phonitor X has uniquely solved laterality control. With it, the center can be found perfectly.

With the mode selector you can choose between stereo or mono playback. On the right, the laterality control is activated.

The revolution
The headphone amplifier features the Phonitor Matrix, which lets you listen to music through headphones as if you were listening through speakers. The tiring super stereo effect is a thing of the past.
