Model change in the mid-range of tube amplifiers
STAX introduces a new tube amplifier, the “SRM-500T”, the successor to the “SRM-006tS”. The first stage is realized with custom low-noise DUAL FET exclusive to STAX while the output stage is realized with 6FQ7/6CG7 tubes. STAX continues to use the traditional circuit design that is perfect for the STAX tube amplifier and improves the power efficiency of the amplifier itself. Finally, the new SRM-500T amplifier achieves an improvement in sound quality.
In addition to the conventional power transformer for the high-voltage circuit, the newly developed power transformer in the SRM-500T also features a low-voltage winding. The low-voltage winding improves energy efficiency, achieving further energy savings and better sound quality than conventional amplifiers such as the SRM-006tS.
The new chassis is more rigid than previous models. The chassis has a hybrid structure that makes extensive use of non-magnetic aluminum and further reduces the effect of disturbances caused by environmental factors such as vibration. RCA and XLR inputs, a concentric dual volume knob and RCA PARALLEL output are provided as on all STAX amplifiers.
All electrical components are rigorously selected. Sound quality and performance are improved. The absence of coupling capacitors in the signal circuit is one of the most important traditional STAX features.
A characteristic of the tube circuit is the clear and very transparent sound, at the same time warm with a large width of sound while maintaining the thickness of the mid-low range. The SRM-500T is the new choice for pairing with STAX lambda series headphones (SR-L300 / SR-L500 MK2 / SR-L700 MK2).
