As for the drivers, the premium 6.5″ (165 mm) woofer is tuned to the cabinet for bass extension down to 40 Hz. This driver handles low and low-mid frequencies with engaging definition and expressiveness, bringing instruments and vocals to life – an astonishing achievement for a speaker of this size.

The midrange unit is based on a 2″ (50mm) dome design, inspired by Wharfedale’s award-winning EVO4 design.

This driver handles the mid-high and mid-low frequencies with ease. It offers the ideal transition between the fundamental tones handled by the bass unit and the higher frequency harmonics.

Sonic detail and high-frequency airiness come from a new 1" (25mm) soft-dome treble unit that inherits design features from Wharfedale's DOVEDALE model, including the ceramic motor system and rear chamber. This chamber helps reduce the resonant frequency below that of the crossover region, for a more natural and seamless transition between the drive units.

The development of the SUPER DENTON involved a level of complexity and attention to detail comparable to a model twice its modest price. As the lead designer states: “Even the grille incorporates internal contours to maximize driver performance and avoid interference from reflections off the cabinet edges.”
